Ugh, I'm sick...

So here I am the week after my vacation and what happens, I get sick! So I involuntarilly got 2 weeks off! However this second one, is without pay, so the old pocketbooks are going to HURT quite badly. Of course I got sick on the last day of my vacation and I figured taking the Monday off would allow me to rest up, take my vitamins and get better. Well that plan has failed yet again. I got worse and worse and then kinda better, then sick again. So here I am, just minutes after posting about my vaction talking about the great sickness that envelopes me. I did some research online and concluded that I have Laryngitis. I thought at first it was Bronchitis or Strep Throat, but all signs point to Laryngitis. Did I go to the doctor? Hell no! Why would I go to the doctor when I know whats wrong and that I know a little rest and fluids will clear it up? So I did the former and I'm starting to feel better. I went to work today for 3 hours, but was coughing up a storm so I ended up coming home.

Yesterday I went to visit mom and dad as they just got home the night before from their trip to Europe (Rome, Switzerland, Paris and England). The first thing I do when I get in, of course, is head to the fridge for a cold frosty glass of milk (2% for all you interested, I know I would be!). I take a glass and start pouring, but I notice something about the milk that didn't seem quite normal, it was a bit thick. I didn't think anything of this as they usually have lots of milk, sometimes more than enough so they freeze it and take it out later. I figured this was the case and it was just thick of milky ice... No God no was I wrong, and I quickly found out... I took a good big gulp and realized that yes, I in fact just drank 1/2 a cup of rancid milk. Until moments before the fateful moment, I was a rancid milk drinking virgin, but no longer... I gagged and slammed the glass down. I was quite upset, being sick and all, phlemy, coughing and now this! Mom was comforting though and seemed concerned which was nice. I go to the bathroom to do whatever I can possibly do to get this horrid horrid flavor out of my mouth and throat. As I'm in there working with futility I hear mom say "oh yuck, I can't even dump this down the sink" which made me feel much better! I rince my mouth with water but that doesn't help, there is no mouth wash in the house so I didn't have much to work with. So I grabbed some toothpaste, put a good dolup on my fingers and then rammed them down my throat trying to coat it with that oh so minty flavor to hopefully cover up that rancid milk taste/flavor/breath that I was plagued with. In the process I scratched the back of my throat and this induced a massive coughing responce that lasted a good 5 minutes. Nothing like the flavor of rancid milk and toothpaste to make a 5 minute coughing spurt seem like everlasting fun! Sigh...

For those who DON'T know what rancid milk tastes like, let me outline the distinct and otherwordly taste experience for you. Imagine everything bad you've ever tasted, multiply that by 100, add puke flavor to the mix and there you have it. For those of you who have experienced this marvel of nature, I offer you my condolences. For those not yet experienced in this taste sensation, ALWAYS, and I cannot stress this enough, ALWAYS look at the expirey date...

Vacation week, YAY!!!

So I took last week off of work. I requested it with MUCH haste as I was going insane with rage at work and needed a vaction fast! In retrospect I should have requested for the next coming week as I had no money and payday wasn't until the Friday of my vacation. Needless to say, I spent money I didn't really have, but it was definately worth it.

Monday my friend Victoria came down to Regina to visit and we went for a supurb sushi dinner at Michi's on Scarth complete with Saki. You cannot have sushi without saki, its pretty much blasphemy. Ended off the evening with ice cream from none other than the Polar Palace, only the best place in Regina for ice cream. Others would argue that Milky Way is best, but currently my choice is with the Polar Palace. Then drove to good ole' Moose Jaw to spend the next day with Victoria. We ate, drank, went to the park, and watched the last 2 installments of the George Lucas epic Star Wars. All in all, it was a good 2 days!

The rest of my vacation time was pretty low key, considering I spent all my money on the first 2 days. Thursday my friends band Driven was playing at Barts on Broad for Band Wars and they kicked serious butt! Lots of people came out. There was drinking, laughter and fun was had by all. Even the security team had fun! They got to throw out a vagrant who was trying to sell watches, clearly stolen, to many of the patrons. Was interesting to say the least!
